I'm not going to lie. I'm struggling with running all these race cars. Don't get me wrong; I can totally do it. I just need to do something about all the things that I'm doing and how to keep track of them. I was thinking of that as I was sanding tires. I think I'm forgetting whether or not I've done a thing based on needing to do that thing.
A few years back I was messing with the idea of a spreadsheet that had all the information for each car. Everything. Every motor, wheel size, tire option, weight, length, etc. I even had a set of checkboxes for when cars had gotten full tuneups lately and another that indicated tire selection.
Well, I think I need to find that old spreadsheet and update it. I think I did a little work one night on it, but I'm sure it needs to be updated by now. There are a ton of new cars I need to add, so it'll be an all-day project. UPDATE: I started an update to the update, but I think I'm going to do a new list with more pertinent information. I need a version that's a bit more of a pit box / garage list. The other one was more of a parts inventory list. Not that that's a bad thing, but I want something else.
The tire fine tuning continues. Each car needs a thorough sanding job, and with the treaded Classic Ortmann tires, it takes awhile. The slicks are a breeze, but the Classics aren't. It looks like that rollover problem the #66 Chappy had was due to the tires not having been sanded across the whole width of the tire. Now I check every car that I put on the track and sand it if it hasn't had it done already.
So this is kind of what I'm talking about. I went from 8 cars to 17 cars almost overnight. And with the tire change coinciding with all these new cars showing up, I'm going to need help keeping track of what I've been doing to each. Like I need to write down that the Lucky Strike car needs a snug front and a loose rear. I basically need to write down all these new changes with all the cars. Every single car I have has undergone a transformation, so I need to have a more thorough understanding of what those changes are and how they're affecting each car.

NEXT DAY: So I got a chance to do some racing, and considered doing it, but got to doing a little more prep on the cars. It's also cold cold cold and once it gets to that level it becomes really unpleasant to try to stand there and race frozen cars.
So I'm ready. We're looking at a 3-day cold front, so I'll be staying off the track for the time being. I'll probably noodle with the cars, but they're mostly ready. I expect some surprises.
